TITLE OF JOB: Engineering Manager STATUS: Salary Exempt
REPORTS TO: Director of Operations
POSITION DESCRIPTION: Supervises and directs hourly workers in ALL engineering operations. To include; Quoting, Design, detailing and Project Management. Daily interaction with all departments, sales, supervisors and management on engineering requirements. Strives to meet and exceed customer quality and delivery requirements while supporting the Goals, objectives and Policy’s established by Cadillac Fabrication.
MAJOR AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:
Directs hourly employees in the design and detailing of various welded components.
Direct the activities of department: hire staff, assign tasks, oversee projects, complete annual appraisals, participate in compensation discussions, and disciplinary actions.
Prepare cost estimates, review and approve estimates of other Eng. Staff.
Controls projects by reviewing design, specifications, and the fabrication plan
Controls project costs by approving expenditures and administering contractor contracts.
Responsible for quality and quantity of work, quality checks for ALL engineering projects.
Maintain project schedule by monitoring project progress, coordinating activities, and resolving problems.
Resolve problems, identify trends, determine system improvements and implement change
Ability to read, interpret and explain blueprints and project specific specifications.
Report all work performed and complete required paperwork.
Works closely with ALL departments to ensure steady flow of information.
Responsible for Engineering Dept. housekeeping and cleanliness!
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.
Able to lead or direct a team including supervisors and other department leaders.
Ability to maintain composure when in stressful situations.
Strong reasoning and problem solving capabilities.
Basic knowledge of welding as it pertains to Cadillac Fabrication.
Ability to organize information and schedule engineering priorities.
Proficient working knowledge of AutoCAD.
Working knowledge of Microsoft programs.
Ability to learn E2 Software system.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Varied working conditions: inside work which is hot to cold or outside work which is windy to wet.
Noise levels may vary.
Must abide by ALL safety rules.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Associate Degree in, Mechanical Design/detailing or equivalent.
Three to five years of hands-on experience design/detailing of industrial products and equipment.
